People will often seek mental health treatment not knowing exactly what is wrong, just that things do not seem right. Psychotherapy can help you to better approach problems with depression, loss, anxiety, trauma, relationships and self-esteem issues with greater understanding and possibility for change. Length of treatment may be long or shorter-term depending on the individual needs that you present with.
I practice in the psychodynamic model of Object Relations that emphasizes the development of empathy, a process of "knowing with" between client and therapist, to discover previously unknown or inaccessible sources of frustration and distress leading to higher capacity of the self. My clinical focus is not just on external behavior but on how meaning is created from inside the deeper self with which we perceive ourselves in the world. Being treated in this way as a whole person and not just as a collection of problems is a revealing, challenging and rewarding endeavor.
There are advantages both to meeting in person and online by telehealth platform. We can discuss the possibilities to find the right option for your treatment.
